SUMMARY:

Our research is interdisciplinary in nature and is focused on investigating the culture and collective memory of the residents of the community of Quilombo/Mocambo Patauá do Umirizal, located in the municipality of Óbidos, Pará, describing and analyzing the evolving dynamics of the processes of economic and culture of this community, with an emphasis on changing açaí production patterns and the social, environmental consequences and quality of life of its residents. In fact, this fruit plays a central role in the identity and subsistence of the community that is the focus of the research, and we seek to understand how transformations in its production impact traditions and cultural practices, as well as the local economy over time. The scientific question that guides the research is: how do the memorial, identity and cultural elements of the residents of the Quilombola Community/Mocambeira Patauá do Umirizal characterize their social structure based on the Açaí Extractive Collection? To achieve possible answers, our general objective is to understand the contribution of the memorial, identity and cultural elements of the residents of the Quilombola Community/Mocambeira Patauá do Umirizal in the characterization of the social structure based on the Açaí Extractive Collection in the quilombola land in focus. To carry out the research, a qualitative approach will be used, under the methodological conditions of Oral History. We hope to identify in the component elements of the culture, identity and memory of the quilombo the socioeconomic and socio-cultural relationship with Açaí, relating the management of açaí production with the memories of the quilombolas. We also attempted, based on data collection, to analyze the aging process of community açaí collectors from the investigated quilombo and a possible decrease in production by the Patauá do Umirizal quilombo.
