SUMMARY:

The object of this study is the novel Two Brothers (2006) and its comic book adaptation, which was given the same name. The first was written by the Amazonian Milton Hatoum and the comic book translation was done by the brothers Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá. With this in mind, the aim is to analyse from a semiological perspective how the literary text, the word, is translated into comics, the image; the nuances between verbal and non-verbal languages. In order to understand this process, we looked at the Language of Comics (Ramos, 2023; Eisner, 2005 and 2010; Cirne, 1975; Cagnin, 1975), Semiology (Barthes, 2001 and 2006), Intersemiotic Translation (Plaza, 2003), conceptions of Translation (Hutcheon, 2011), Amazonian Literature (Fernandes, 2005), as well as the theoretical basis of other authors who corroborate the researched theme.
