SUMMARY:

Since the construction of the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Power Plant (UHBM), in Altamira-PA, several challenges have emerged, as it is an enterprise with high environmental impact, causing harm to the health of the population. In addition to this, changes in the social environment and displacement of populations have been observed, which have significantly altered the economic and cultural activities of the region. Thus, the present work aims to analyze the occurrence of Health promotion and Education policies, with an emphasis on parasitic diseases, in an area of Collective Urban Resettlement (RUC-Jatobá), in the municipality of Altamira, Pará. This is a quantitative-qualitative research using a statistical method to assess the number of parasitic diseases in the study site. For this purpose, techniques were used to quantify the number of frequent parasitic diseases in the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, in RUC Jatobá. To analyze the significant differences in the incidence of parasites, a two-way ANOVA was performed, followed by the Tukey test at a significance level of α ≤ 0.05. For the qualitative analyses on public policies and health promotion, the questionnaires applied had open and closed questions and were applied to 180 volunteer participants. For the objective questions, the data were stored in Google Drive and analyzed in the Excel Office 365 Microsoft program, through graphs, while for the subjective questions, the free software Iramuteq was used, which analyzes the most diverse types of textual data. The results found showed that due to urban growth, lack of investment in infrastructure and neglect of basic sanitation, unsanitary conditions resulted, without coverage of essential basic services such as water, sewage and garbage collection, which aggravated the increase in pathogenic parasites with a higher level of incidence between the years studied. Giardia lamblia stands out, corresponding to (23.75%), followed by the species Tricuris trichiura with (14.82%) and Ascaris lumbricoides with (12.94%). In addition, the students' perception regarding their lack of knowledge about what a parasitic disease is, body hygiene care, and water treatment in their neighborhood was a worrying and challenging result, since it is known that these pathogenic microorganisms represent a serious public health problem. Regarding teachers, the lack of investment and opportunities in continuing education, the difficulty in carrying out educational actions, the challenges of working education and health in school curricula, health activities in the school space, the lack of commitment from public management, the participation of neighborhood health in schools, and health vulnerability were all problems that are still difficult to overcome due to the lack of sensitivity and difficulty in obtaining information. Regarding the perception of health professionals, it was noted that there was a lack of training for health professionals and difficulty in obtaining information for action, a lack of basic sanitation and the emergence of parasitic infections, in addition to poor infrastructure in the RUC. As for the families, the result was precarious health, a lack of commitment from the municipal government, since many diseases during this period became opportunistic for tropical diseases from the Amazon, the lack of investment and urban infrastructure, which caused difficulties to arise, in addition to financial difficulties and fond memories of when the resettled people lived in their old homes. After all, several socio-environmental impacts and problems related to health and education have increased negatively due to the lack of planning. It is expected that this work can contribute to the quality of life of the population and improvements in health promotion, aiming at the implementation of effective public policies in health and education, ensuring a healthy environment and promoting the well-being of families in the resettlement area.
