SUMMARY:

The School Health Program (PSE), linked to the Family Health Strategy, makes it viable to create centers and relationships between the public health and education sectors for school spaces, helping in the early diagnosis of situations that could harm the quality of learning and student health. Thus, this study formulated the following problem: How has the School Health Program (PSE), in the new cycle (2021-2022), contributed through its environmental health actions to improving the quality of life of schoolchildren? The general objective aimed to analyze the School Health Program and its environmental health actions, in the new cycle (2021-2022), as promoters of improving the quality of life of schoolchildren in the municipality of Altamira/Pa. The specific objectives are: to map PSE actions and their planning in the new cycle (2021-2022); verify how Environmental Health actions are planned and implemented in the PSE; examine the perception of professionals working in the PSE about the program and its role in improving the health conditions of students; identify the performance of these professionals regarding the promotion and development of Environmental Health Education; analyze the perception of students participating in PSE actions about the importance of the program for their quality of life. The locus of the research is the municipality of Altamira/Pará and the delimitation of the study is the PSE, with the empirical study carried out together with 02 PSE coordinators from the Departments of Health and Education; 03 coordinating nurses from 03 health units; 02 Pedagogical coordinators from 03 schools that are assisted by these units, and 82 students from these schools, aged between 10 and 12 years old, generating a total sample of 89 participants. Schools were the reference nucleus to define the sample, with municipal schools that were considered priority being chosen, which were located in the urban area and the health units linked to them. The research will be bibliographic, documentary and empirical, with a qualitative-quantitative approach and is characterized as a case study. The data produced were processed based on content analysis by Bardin (2011), using the N Vivo 14 software, and applying the data triangulation technique. As results, it is clear from the view of those surveyed that the PSE improves the quality of life of students through the promotion of their actions and, consequently, of the community, as it enhances the development of criticality regarding lifestyle habits, in addition to the socializing program reliable information on how to prevent and promote health. To achieve quality of life, the construction of Environmental Health Education in the School Health Program is essential, realizing that changes are necessary since these actions have been limited to combating aedes aegypti. It is therefore concluded that the implementation of critical Environmental Health Education as a transversal axis in the collaborative planning of the other 12 PSE actions can implement its commitment to comprehensive student education, in addition to enhancing community participation in the transformation of healthy habits.
