THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MAIS EDUCAÇÃO PROGRAM IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF ITAITUBA-PA

The research presents the inductive policy of Integral Education in the municipality of
Itaituba, from 2009 to 2015, since the implementation of the Mais Educação Program (PME).
The objective was to analyze the process of implementing the PME in two schools in Itaituba,
seeking to understand its materialization in the school context. To achieve the objective
proposed here, a qualitative research was carried out, using literature and field research,
carried out in two schools, in Itaituba city, where the Mais Educação Program was carried
out, from 2009 to 2015. The questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection,
which was applied to the seventeen research subjects, contemplating: two directors, two
educational technicians, two PME coordinators and eleven teachers. The information
contributed to analyze and interpret the contraditions that existed during the implementation
of the Mais Educação Program in the school context, and, thus, encourage discussions about
integral education as a possibility for quality education in the brazilian context, with
specificities in the context of Brazilian Amazon. The research was of fundamental
importance because in addition to contributing to the already existing framework, it allows
the reader to reflect on how the PME was implemented in schools that did not offer adequate
space for the execution of the workshops, their languages and proposed activities. The
implementation of the PME in these two schools was challenging and marked by the poor
adherence to the Program on the part of the subjects involved, as well as by the lack of
knowledge on the part of them, about the functionality of the project in the school context.
Additionally, the study made it possible to infer about the need for a comprehensive
education policy in the municipality of Itaituba, as an important element for improving the
quality of basic education.
