School instruction. Instruction in Santarém. Historical-Critical Pedagogy
School education practices in the interior of the Amazon in the twentieth century still have much remnants of an earlier past aggravated by a socio-political context of governments shaped by military practices or views and aggravated by a geopolitical context experienced in World War II and by the repression of communism . This context is the environment experienced in Santarém, in Pará, identified in the publications of O Mariano, source of the research carried out, a Catholic vehicle whose existence was established from 1935 to 1957, occupying the width of a gazette, maintained by a lay organization of the then Prelature from Santarém, the Maryan of the Young’s Congregation, which, from 1951, became the official communication organ of the local church. In the 297 editions, almost 1.200 printed pages, information about school education of the time, with practices linked to religious orientation in schools not only of clerical orientation, but also public ones. This work identifies this State-Church relationship in public education, the reflexes of dogmatic orientations in school instruction, the basis for the social thought of the time. Instructional practices are analyzed in the light of the dimension of historical-critical materialism with Dermeval Saviani's Pedagogy as the north, corroborated by José Claudinei Lombardi's studies on the dualism between Marxism and education.
