WHAT SENSES ARE MADE IN READING PROPOSALS FOR BABIES?

This research is within the comprehensive field that studies reading, literature and child development from the perspective of school education and is aimed at investigating how, especially academic works, reading for babies is understood and what the basis is for proposing actions in this regard. We start from the conception of reading as an intellectual activity of deciphering carried out on texts, on the language, in the ways it is organized in writing and given the complexity of this action, it presupposes a series of demands, repertoire references, thought process, which characterizes it. with an activity essentially constituted by the so-called higher psychic functions. However, there are works aimed at discussing reading, expanding this term and understanding beyond the process described above and based on the idea of multiple languages, they use the concept in a comprehensive way: we read faces, voices, images. Through this conception, we reach baby readers or reading for babies and our objective is to verify what justifies and promotes actions in this sense. To this end, we surveyed academic texts that focus on the topic and, at this point in the research, we analyzed 27 articles based on records that consider 1. reading comprehension for babies and the possible justifications for reading with babies. 2. the ways of carrying out this reading, the pedagogical suggestions. 3. the conceptualization of reading, literature, books, texts. 4. the conception of child development presented in the texts. The exercise has also been to study conceptually based texts on reading, literature and child development in order to situate our question and create support with an analytical lens. What we found in the empirical corpus led us to a prior understanding of how reading for babies is being understood, the justifications most used to propose such an action and what the pedagogical suggestions for carrying it out are. Therefore, based on conceptual readings, we make some notes to better think about the next steps of the research.
