The pandemic that occurred in Brazil due to the COVID-19 virus had a wide-reaching impact on the entire society. Originating in China, the first reports of social isolation, disease elimination practices, and contagion prevention strategies were accompanied by high levels of stress, anger, tension, anxiety, depression, and sadness. As a result, some people, in an attempt to protect themselves and seek social well-being, turned to Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS), and this was no different in the municipality of Santarém, Pará. Physical medical records of patients treated at the CAPS units in Santarém (2017–2023) were evaluated to estimate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the use of psychotropic drugs. The most frequently prescribed medications were sertraline and citalopram, in addition to an increase in benzodiazepine use between 2020 and 2021, with variations among communities and adherence challenges, revealing fragile access in peripheral and riverside areas. In light of this, it is necessary to analyze and discuss the data obtained. These findings highlight the need to strengthen the local Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS), ensure a regular supply of medications, and provide adequate pharmaceutical support. Therefore, the objective of this study is to assess the impact of the pandemic on the use of psychotropic medications in the municipality of Santarém, Pará, through the analysis of physical medical records, given that there is no digital data system available at the CAPS units during the period from 2017 to 2023.
