RESUMO:

Accidents by venomous animals, although old, still represent a major public health problem in Brazil and in the world, presenting high frequency in morbimortality of the affected population. Among these are scorpionism, caused by scorpion bites, which can lead to human poisoning, whose severity and evolution range from mild to moderate to severe cases, and may cause deaths or temporary sequelae. The objective of the present study was to analyze and describe the incidence of scorpionism in the Legal Amazon, from 2001 to 2016, correlating with its spatial distribution. The methodology consisted of a descriptive and analytical clinical-epidemiological survey of the scorpionic accidents reported in the SINAN - Notification Disease Information System. Demographic data and population estimates, prepared by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), required for calculation of incidence rates and mortality coefficients were collected on the electronic website of the Department of Informatics of the National Health System-DATASUS. The epidemiological variables (sex, age and race / color) and clinical variables (case evolution, case classification and time of bite / care) were analyzed by calculating incidence rates, lethality, mortality and relative risk, using a 95% confidence interval. The Kruskal-Wallis test, chi-square and Pearson's correlation will also be performed. Data tabulation, analysis and plotting were performed with Microsoft Excel 2013 software, EpiInfo 7.2 and BioEstat 5.0, and the map produced with QGIS® version 3.4.2.
