RESUMO:

The Amazon stands out for covering a great diversity of landscapes and still comprises most of the world's forest biomass. The forest fragments are defined by a division or reduction in smaller areas that initially presented a continuous form. The occurrence of these formations can be influenced by the soil, not only determining the type of forest formation, but also influencing the distribution and abundance of species. The soil is an important factor for the natural and vegetal processes; it serves as a subsidy for vegetal growth from the support, besides incorporating physical and chemical attributes that are essential for ecological interactions. This work aims to determine the physical and chemical attributes of the soil (granulometry, expressed by the fractions sand, silt and clay and pH, sodium contents (Na); nitrogen (N), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sulfur (S), phosphorus (P), copper (Cu), boron (B) and zinc (Zn), calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+), aluminum (Al3+), sodium (Na+) and exchangeable potassium (K+) and potential acidity) and relate to the vegetation structure of the Alter-do-Chão forest fragments from the variables density, basal area, DAP and diametric class, thus emphasizing the soil-vegetation relationship. The study area is defined as an environmental protection area (APA) located in Alter-do-Chão, Santarém-PA. The research project is the result of a partnership with the Biodiversity Research Program (PPBio) which corresponds in biomonitoring experiments. The field activity was determined in two phases, being the forest inventory and soil collection in 19 plots of forest fragments with an extension of 250x10 m, carried out from pre-established protocols and the soil sample collections carried out in a 250 m course, comprising six sampling points, with four depths (0-5 cm; 5-10cm; 10-20cm; 20-30cm). The chemical and physical analyses of soils will be performed at EMBRAPA Belém, and the processing of vegetation data will be performed first in Excel software. The soil-vegetation interaction will be determined through the program R, through a principal component analysis (PCA) and linear regression. It is expected to obtain results that correspond to a correlation between soil-vegetation, mainly defined from granulometry, pH, and organic carbon, obtaining nutrient differences according to the location of some fragments, which are closer to the river.
