RESUMO:

Stingray accidents are common among the traditional peoples of the Amazon region, despite this, they are neglected, and little studied. This research aimed to determine the clinical and epidemiological profile of accidents caused by stingrays, seen at a Health Unit in Alter do Chão, Santarém-PA, and evaluate the usability and functionality of an application developed for reporting these accidents. For this, a quantitative, descriptive exploratory, retrospective study was carried out, with collection of clinical, epidemiological and laboratory data from patients diagnosed with a stingray accident, attended between the years 2009 to 2019 at the Alter do Chão 24-hour Health Unit. In addition, the Stingray Accident Notification System (SNAA mobile) application was evaluated, so that it can be used as a resource for recording accidents, with notification tools such as: patient and accident data, procedures adopted in the treatment, and geographic location. During the analyzed period, 600 patients diagnosed as having stingray injuries were treated. The years with the highest occurrence were from 2015 to 2019 with 55.7% of cases, with the months from September to December being the period with the highest number of records (68.1%) of accidents, mostly during the day (70,2%). Most of the victims are male (70.9%), aged 21 to 40 years (46.3%), living in Alter do Chão, Santarém or neighboring communities (69.2%), the remaining victims (30.8%) were visitors from the village, coming from other Brazilian states, or from other countries, the anatomical region most affected was the lower limbs, with the presence of pain, local bleeding and infection. Most victims were assisted by nursing professionals. The most used forms of treatment were the use of painkillers, antibiotics, dressing, debridement and drainage of the wound. The navigation screens of the SNAA mobile application present fields filled with conventional technical language in the health area, and consistency throughout the data capture, the notification is performed in an easy, usual and fast way, once the form is presented in list form to be selected, it takes about five minutes to be done, and can be done in offline and online mode. In view of the notifications made, statistical data can be generated, which can be used as support for clinical and epidemiological studies, research of occurrences and severity of cases of stingray accidents, contributing to better knowledge and prevention of these injuries. Stingray accidents are common in the village of Alter do Chão, especially during the dry season, where extensive beaches are formed that attract a greater number of people for recreational activities, who, unaware of the danger of accidents, end up being victims of therefore, it is necessary to implement informative actions, and signage through signs in the seaside town, to provide information about accidents.
