SUMMARY:

Faunistic analysis studies have been intensified in recent years, in view of its efficiency in assessing the conservation of biodiversity and consequently of ecosystems, applied in order to know the diversity of species present in an area, this tool describes the occurrence and abundance of the species that make up a community. Influenced by genetic and/or environmental factors, fluctuating asymmetry is also a tool that has high potential to be used in ecological work, given its high ability to detect variations in environmental conditions before they reach lethal levels. In this context, this study aims to analyze the community structure of Sphingidae in the Tapajós National Forest. Adding data referring to the analysis of the floating asymmetry of Sphingidae in two phytophysiognomies of the Amazon biome (Forest and Savannah). For that, the present work will be divided into two chapters: The first will deal with the structure of the community and the second with the fluctuating asymmetry of sphinxes. For data collection, in the forest area, the sphinids were sampled monthly for three consecutive nights, in the new/waning moon phase over a year, using a Pennsylvania light trap model. For the acquisition of biological material in the savanna phytophysiognomy, will be used specimens from the study carried out by Conceição; Teston (2020). From the development of this work, will be made available a systematic list of species and genera of sphindids occurring in the Tapajós Flona, as well as a description and analysis of their diversity, richness and abundance. In addition, will be presented the morphometric description of two paired structures, wings and eyes composed of sphingids, evidencing the presence or absence of fluctuating asymmetry between the right and left sides of the studied characters. The obtained results will also allow to evaluate if the PA presents variations among the studied phytophysiognomies
