SUMMARY:

Mining is an essential activity for humanity, especially in relation to the movement of the economy in the country, generating income and jobs. However, it causes several impacts that vary according to the peculiarities of the mining, as well as the type of ore, since almost always, the development of this activity implies in suppression of vegetation, exposure of the soil to erosive processes, alteration in the quality of the soil and of water, silting of rivers, among other factors. In this way, the basis of this research focuses specifically on mineral exploration and on how much this activity can cause degradation in mining areas in the Amazon region. Land cover is constantly changing due to the different factors that influence its use, and these changes observed over time, once characterized, can provide valuable information about different environmental processes, such as forest degradation. For this, a temporal analysis of land use in mining regions will be developed, to ascertain the rate of degradation resulting from the activities. Corroborating the evolution of land use in the studied area, chemical analyzes of the soil and water will be carried, to assess the extent of accumulation of certain metals present, from mining activities.
