SUMMARY:

In recent decades, the global consumption of products has increased significantly, and as a result, industrialization is driven to meet this demand, generating environmental impacts. In this context, it is necessary to seek eco-sustainable alternatives for the replacement of marketed products whose origin comes from non-renewable sources. In this context, the thermal blanket, in turn, is used in roof structures, whose use is necessarily to promote greater thermal comfort, and currently has no alternative of natural origin. Therefore, this dissertation intends to experiment with Cylindrical Luffa, an ecologically sustainable product that presents ecological sustainability, since it is a known natural fiber that has relevant production in the Amazon region, as a thermal blanket to promote thermal comfort in buildings. For this, six boxes of identical size and materials (test cells) were prepared where there would be differentiation only in the blanket used under the roof, where one would have no blanket (matrix cell), one would have fiberglass blanket, one with reflective aluminum blanket load and three cells with vegetable dowel load, each with a different density (300g⁄m2, 600g⁄m2 and 900g⁄m2) in order to analyze the difference in performance by density of the material, the cells were positioned outdoors and their internal temperature was collected every three hours from thermocouples and a CR10 datalogger, for the measurement of local temperature data were collected from INMET. Finally, based on statistical analysis ANOVA with application of Turkey test, it was verified that the cells with vegetable bush load had similar performance to the matrix cell and the cell with aluminum blanket load, showing insufficient to be used as thermal blanket in buildings, but showed a potential as a temperature catalyst for the promotion of thermal balance.
