RESUMO:

The Amazon has undergone several transformations in its natural and social environment resulting from the development process of the region. In recent decades, the region comprising the municipalities of Santarém, Belterra and Mojuí dos Campos, now known as the Metropolitan Region of Santarém, has experienced rapid and expressive transformations, especially for anthropic systems. These transformations may cause an epidemiological risk with a potential to increase the exposure of vector diseases, since changes in land use and land cover through the modification of the environment have been associated with several infectious and parasitic diseases such as those endemic in Brazil. Amazon: Malaria, Leishmaniasis, and several other arboviruses. In this sense, the present research seeks to understand how the processes of changes in land use and land cover in the Metropolitan Region of Santarém have contributed to the dynamics of vector-borne diseases, particularly Dengue, Leishmaniasis and Malaria. To discuss the use and coverage of diseases, the following methodological steps were drawn: The first is to characterize and analyze the conditions of territorial changes in the study area and the survey of the environmental indicators related to the changes in use and coverage of the disease. using the relevant literature and historical and local characteristics. The second will be the elaboration of a model of land use and coverage through the indicators selected in the first stage and finally the simulation of future scenarios of use and coverage for the year 2030 and the analysis of the susceptibility to diseases resulting from these changes. Finally, we will discuss the links between changes in land use and coverage and vector-borne diseases through the current and future map of land use and land cover and susceptibility.
