IMPACTOS SOCIOAMBIENTAIS DECORRENTES DE OCUPAÇÕES IRREGULARES NA CIDADE DE
SANTARÉM-PA NA REGIÃO AMAZÔNICA
Invasions, Amazon, Socioenvironmental Impacts.
In most cities in the Amazon region, problems of lack of sanitation, infrastructure, health and
education are recurrent. These problems are related to the lack of water supply, sewage
collection, lack of quality schools and hospitals that serve society in the region. In addition,
social problems lead the Amazon region to experience an environmental crisis with high rates
of deforestation. The present work demonstrates that most of these problems are caused, on an
urban scale, by recurrent irregular invasions in the Amazon region. Up to this point, the
present work, proposed for this qualification, already presents preliminary studies of a major
invasion in the city of Santarém in the state of Pará. This invaded area comprises the
geographical coordinates 2º26'19,01” S and 54º45'44,6” O, which started in 2013, and today
has more than 20,000 people living in precarious situations, on streets without infrastructure
and basic services. In a complementary way, they are also studied in this proposal, as changes
of the microclimate in the course of the advance of the invasion and a subsequent deforested
area, correlating to the impacts of the species that were removed. With a special focus on the
hot springs hard hit, the study presents an analysis of 7 (seven) hot springs hit in the area, of
which 5 (five) were extinct and 2 (two) had changes in their goals.
