SUMMARY:

The Amazon River influences the lives of thousands of people who live on its banks and live annually with the impact of natural events. The intensity of the seasonal dynamics of the river, associated with the extreme events caused by climate change and the action of man in the territory bring to the landscape of the floodplain deep inconstancy and vulnerability. Knowledge about the impacts of such events on the educational lives of students, schools and riverine communities is still insipid and fragmented. This epistemological void contributes to the generation of mistaken and distant perceptions of the complex mosaic, physical, geographic, biological, ethnic and social complex that forms the whole of the floodplain. This research seeks to know the impacts of seasonality and extreme natural events on the school context of lowland communities in the municipality of Santarem. In order to do so, it will characterize the environmental dynamics and its transformations over the last 20 years in the region of the study, characterizing the main extreme natural events and their impacts on communities through GIS tools and the perception of their residents. Carry out a diagnosis of the types of vulnerabilities and their effects on the school context of the communities, due to seasonality and the occurrence of extreme natural events. to achieve an integrated analysis of socio-environmental aspects and to propose mitigating measures against the impacts caused to the school context of the communities. It proposes to integrate the data generated by the research actors with the sociodemographic data and risk mapping. It will have a qualitative-quantitative approach to obtain data that allows more in-depth analysis, a better understanding of the researched universe and the validation of the data attained.
