SUMMARY:

The present thesis described and analyzed, qualitatively and quantitatively, the modes of circulation and communication of scientific information of the Brama/Ufopa research group from the epistemological-methodological framework of Graph Theory, Actor-Network Theory (TAR), insights from Knowledge Management, Coloniality and Colonization of Knowledge. In this investigation, it concludes that science communication and datafication actions aimed at translating and sharing knowledge of the sociotechnical network on climate and environment in the Amazon are necessary tools for confronting and strengthening research groups on climate and environment before the phenomena of fake news and misinformation, that such science has experienced throughout the second half of the 20th century and in these first two decades of the 21st century. In this investigation, intervention research was carried out based on the participant observation technique, science communication activities, and conceptual modeling in and for a research group at the Federal University of Western Pará, aiming to construct a moving cartography. It found that the restructuring of the Amazon frontier in these first decades of the 21st century has been a matter of concern not only for environmentalists and local communities, impacted by the intensification of industrial agriculture, but is also the object of investigation by international cooperation networks of researchers in Environmental Sciences. Thus, in the present thesis, the modes of communication and circulation of science information of the Brama-Ufopa research group are observed since climate and environmental studies in the Amazon region are strongly linked to international research groups that monitor climate variables, collecting data through aerial campaigns in vertical profiles over the Amazon rainforest; measuring devices and meteorological stations, existing in research sites built by international cooperation programs and projects such as the Large Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Program in the Amazon (LBA), created in 1998. It ́s observed the expansion and advance of the agricultural frontier towards the North Region, more specifically towards forest regions along the BR-163; the unequal power dynamics between the Global North and the Global South in terms of production and circulation of knowledge and also the effects of power on male and female researchers, such as restricted access to resources (restricted publications, research opportunities, and resources); inequality in research funding (inappropriate or disproportionate allocation of research funds); impact on knowledge production (geopolitical bias in knowledge production and dissemination); marginalization of certain research areas (unequal representation of specific research fields in academic institutions). Technoscience can favor Brazilian research groups, as such actions insert network actors, their actions and inscriptions, that is, science in action, its data, information, and knowledge, in this new world space of digital social networks, real for the “new” media public opinion of digital platforms.
