RESUMO:

The geometric patterns, so present in nature and in human constructions, show us how it is necessary to know the space around us to develop important skills, such as the ability to describe and represent the world in which we live, and the art of folding role and giving shape to the representation of objects present or not in the physical world only reinforce how such capacities are, in fact, necessary, and may awaken other skills, such as the ability to create. Thus, this work is a text addressing some content of geometry, through a playful approach provided by the use of origami in the construction of objects and geometric shapes. The text begins with a brief presentation of the art and geometry of origami and some of its applications. Then, basic elements of geometry are enunciated and presented by means of representations made on the sheet of paper and the axioms of origami are also explained by means of geometric arguments. Right after we show some classic geometric construction problems that can be solved by using origami constructions, as well as checking theorems that have a lot of applicability in mathematics and in construction problems involving folding. And, finally, we present some proposals of activities involving origami, to be applied in the 9th year of Elementary School, serving as support material in the approach and application of some essential mathematical contents that must be worked in Elementary School according to the Base National Common Curriculum.
