SUMMARY:

The present work was motivated by the need to strengthen knowledge about arithmetic, seeking to achieve better results in the teaching-learning process of Mathematics, because in several cases, among the problems indicated by educators for the low performance of students in mathematics, is the low mastery of basic mathematical operations. The domain of functional programming in Haskell by the proponent, allowed him to develop and present the Senes, an Educational Software for the learning of arithmetic and special numbers. The aim of the research is to verify the influence of the software on the learning of arithmetic. The software would be applied in schools, with students of basic education, however, due to the pandemic of Covid-19, the application was carried out voluntarily, through the availability of the software on its own web page for this purpose, and disseminated by social networks, where participants could know and make use of the software, and then contribute to the research by answering an electronic questionnaire. For the development of exploratory research, characterized as Survey, a questionnaire was applied to participants with open and closed questions, which allowed the participants answers more appropriate to their needs, classifying the present study as qualitative and quantitative due to the types of questions and the consequent analysis of the answers. The results indicated the adequacy of the Senes for the learning of arithmetic by contributing to the practice and apprehension of new knowledge in a relaxed and playful way, also pointed out that educational tools of this type can contribute significantly to improve the quality of mathematical education, because it allows the visualization of the practical application of knowledge, besides involving and attracting the attention of the learner.
