SUMMARY:

The use of pesticides is advancing rapidly around the world, in part justified by population growth. However, these substances are often used indiscriminately, above the recommended doses, causing contamination of the soil, surface and underground water, and consequently, the deterioration of the environment, affecting non-target organisms. It is possible to evaluate the harmful effects of pesticides on environmental quality with the aid of ecotoxicology, an area of study that uses different methodologies through bioassays with test organisms sensitive to the effect of the tested toxic substance. The objective of this work is to verify the physiological response of botanical species popularly known as Monkey ear (Enterolobium schomburgkii Benth.), Angelim stone (Hymenolobium petraeum Ducke) and Yellow ipê (Handroanthus serratifolius (Vahl) S.Grose ) to exposure to the pesticides glyphosate, 2,4-D, atrazine and cypermethrin on germination and early seedling development. The seeds will be collected, disinfected and subjected to different treatments from different concentrations of toxicants. These concentrations will be established according on the manufacturers recommendation: Control (no toxicant), a quarter of the recommended dose (1/4), half the recommended dose (1/2), recommended dose (1), twice the recommended dose (2x) and four times the recommended dose (4x).Two tests will be carried out, teste I, carried out on germitest paper to evaluate the effects of concentrations on seed germination; and test II, which will be carried out in containers containing soil (mixture of black earth and washed sand 1:1 (v/v). In this test, the effect of toxicants concentrations will be evaluated 30 days after seedling emergence. Will be measured variables of exposure (mortality (EC50) and effect(width, thickness and length of seeds); germination percentage (G); germination speed index (GSI); relative seed germination (RSG); relative root elongation (RRE); germination index (GI); first germination count (FGC); plant survival (PS); Final Mortality (FM); last germination count (LGC); root length (RL) shoot length (SL);  stem diameter (SD); aerial part dry mass (APDM); Root Dry Mass (RDM); photosynthetic pigments (Chlorophyll a, b and total carotenoids); relative growth rate (RGR); Absolute growth rate (AGR), non-reducing sugars (N- red) and total soluble sugars (TSS). To collect part of the data, we used ImageJ software (Image Processing and Analysis in java). The data will be tested for normality and homogeneity and the differences between the means will be verified by means of an (ANOVA) and Tukey test at 5% significance level. To calculate EC50 or LC50, the Trimmed Spearman-karber test will be used (HAMILTON; RUSSO; THURSTON, 1978).
