MERCURY RESIDUES IN COMMERCIAL FISH CONSUMED IN THE AMAZON: AN ANNOUNCED REVIEW
Consumption, fish and mercury
Due to the high demand for the consumption of fish by the population of the Amazon, associated with the problem of contamination of water resources and aquatic biota by metals, there is a need to assess the levels of mercury in locally consumed food, such as fish. considering that mercury is an element with high accumulation power and even in low system, its recurrent consumption can be harmful to health. Thus, it is important to obtain, evaluate and compare the results of research carried out in the last decade on the levels of the contaminant between fish species, since consumers in general do not have satisfactory and reliable information to decide on which fish species to buy and consume seasonally. In this sense, this research aims to: Evaluate the levels of mercury concentration in commercial fish most consumed in the Legal Amazon. Thus, a research will be a bibliographic review commented from the collection of data and information in different electronic scientific databases for the period 2010 to 2021, carried out using descriptors related to mercury residues in commercial fish in the Brazilian Amazon. The set of information selected from the publications will be organized in spreadsheets, maps and tables, in order to facilitate a statistical analysis between the corrected descriptors.
