SUMMARY:

Aiming at the identification of medicinal plant species most used by a particular people/ethnicity, a branch of science called "ethnobotany" was created, whose purpose is to survey the plants most used by individuals to make teas, tinctures, medicines and identify the species, in addition to analyzing the cultural knowledge present in the community. In Brazil, the use of medicinal plants has gained encouragement from public health promotion policies, due to their implementation in primary care. In this way, the growth of its membership by the community can be seen. Inherent in this, the creation of medicinal gardens favors the cultivation of these plants, in addition to promoting rational use and valuing traditional knowledge. Therefore, the search for new options for the treatment of diseases has generated debates inherent to new formulas and other sources of raw materials in order to treat chronic and degenerative diseases with few harmful effects for the patient. Given this exposure, the scientific community has sought new treatment formulas for diseases, especially chronic diseases such as diabetes and degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Cancer. The latter is mainly due to the difficulty associated with the cost and complexity of the treatment, in addition to the adverse adverse effects on the patient. Thus, the objective of this work is to investigate the use of medicinal plant species used by patients in cancer treatment to alleviate the symptoms of therapy and/or fight the disease progression, as well as to identify the phytochemical profile of the most cited species describing the perception of the effects that the plant has in the treatment of the individual who uses it.
