RESUMO:

This work presents a theoretical research about the imagination produced by storytelling in the context of Early Childhood Education (EI), and aims to analyze the development of children's imagination up to 6 years in a historical-cultural perspective (THC). To do so, it seeks to situate the locus of narrative situations in the postulates of the imagination developed by THC; understand how the activities that guide the child's development relate to storytelling; to verify the conceptions of imagination and storytelling present in the Brazilian educational surveys; discuss the role of the teacher as well as the concrete conditions involving narrative activities in the EI. The methodology of work is based on the fundamental principle of Historical-Dialectical Materialism, which underlies the Historical-Cultural Theory and indicates the factor of real and concrete necessity around the rational apprehension of the object in its social dynamics, reproduced in systems of thought that depart always from the more general relations to the meeting of the more specific ones. The exposition of the arguments occurs in the form of dialogical movement that starts from the study of THC to the encounter of the editorial productions and national academic researches, to next discuss their implications in the EI, according to the following structure: 1º Movement, presents a synthesis of the epistemology, evidencing the object of study, its real and fantastic function, the way the Vygotskian theory comprises the narration of stories in the processes of imagination and creation, and the way in which this approach can be leveraged in the different social situations of development in relation to activities that guide the formation of the child's personality, enabling the child to structure and organize his thoughts and emotions through fantasy. 2º Movimento, the work returns to the survey of publications of the Brazilian publishing market and educational research carried out between the years 2000-2018, when the pedagogical practices involving the storytelling greatly extend its space in the discussions and academic productions. The research aims to understand the dynamism of the conceptions around the object, its dominant tendencies and repercussion in educational scope. The 3rd Movement focuses on the (dis) charms of teaching and narrating and discusses the role of teacher / storyteller in EI, the relationship between adult and child imagination, the influence of intellectual formation for enriching the teacher's imagination, as well as the emergence of forms of pedagogical planning that intend maximum possibilities of imaginative development through the narration of stories in the IE. This is a critical synthesis in which the argument will be mixed with some of the researcher's experiential situations as a storytelling teacher in basic educational contexts. Finally, the 4th Movement focuses on curricular challenges and the process of social "disenchantment" as a condition for the broad development of the human imagination; also develops a reflection on the relevance of negative feelings and the need for teachers and children to face them, aesthetically, in order to overcome the dangers of the harmful imagination that oppresses and deforms the personality. In addition to the above, while recognizing the need to qualify curricular compositions with first-rate experiences, it is accepted that the mere change of professional positions, forms of planning, content and methodologies alone is insufficient to cope with the social inequalities - the real obstacles that prohibit full access to the patrimony of universal culture, pointed out by the theory studied as indispensable to the process of humanization and maximum development of the imagination.
