RADIO AND EDUCATION: PRACTICES AND CHALLENGES OF THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY IN THE SCHOOLS OF SANTARÉM

Radio is still a very popular medium in people's lives, even with the advancement of so-called new technologies. So much so that in Santarém, western region of Pará, the state and municipal schools of education implanted school radios. In this perspective, this research project proposes an investigation of the use of radio in two schools of the municipal education network, in order to verify if in fact this media has pedagogical potentialities for teaching children involved in the educational process. To do so, it is necessary to make a historical route of the radio in order to understand how this vehicle of communication gained popularity in Brazil. In addition, it is important to look at radio settings and ratings nowadays, since media is now also present on the world wide web, not just the dial, as before. In the same way a brief concept of the terms education, communication will be made to understand how these two denominations intersect until what today the most recent researchers call educommunication. It is also proposed to describe how radio appears as an educational proposal in Brazil, and how these proposals were consolidated until the so-called school radios, object of this research. In this project, brief sketches of what will be the final dissertation are presented.
