RESUMO:

Studies related to the learning of social values through sport are widely executed in Brazilian literature, however, research focused on social skills developed through social interaction in sports environments, specifically in soccer (football), are still timorous.  This British sport is part of the social and cultural construction of Brazilians, and many, since childhood and adolescence, moved by the dream of becoming great players and reaching the status of idols, join teams from the base categories of different clubs in order to develop a career that reaches professionalism. Thus, an important part of these young people's life period is lived in the sports context, so the experiences arising from the social relationships established in this environment significantly interfere in the human development of these individuals, directing the learning of social behaviors by young athletes.  In this sense, social skills (SS) are understood as a set of attitudes that enable better results in interpersonal exchanges and act as protective factors for human development, since they are essential for people's quality of life and well-being.  That said, the present study aimed to investigate the relationship between social interactions in the soccer game context and its implications for the development of social skills in young players.  This is a qualitative field research with 08 adolescents aged between 16 and 17 who work for a soccer team in Santarem, Para state, Brazil.  The methodological instruments selected for this study were: sociodemographic questionnaire, interview script and non-participant observation, and a social skills inventory for adolescents (PRETTE, 2009).  To analyze the observation data, descriptive analysis was used, with the inventory, a computerized analysis was used and for the interviews, the Technique of Elaboration and Analysis of Meaning was applied (MOREIRA; SIMOES; PORTO, 2005).  The results showed that in social interactions in the investigated environment there is more emission of behaviors without SS.  Therefore, SS as assertiveness, self-control and emotional expressiveness and empathy with the opponent are less developed in these relationships.  However, it was found that social skills were favored, such as: making friends, empathy among the team, civility and etc.  It is noteworthy that the relevance of this research is also addressed to expanding discussions of scientific studies on the development of social skills in the sports context, contributing to the knowledge of the social interactions that are part of the educational processes of soccer, and other sports, environment in the Amazon region.
