RESUMO:

The practice of reading is related to a series of benefits for child development: stimulating creativity, association of playful figures with real situations, understanding of social norms and incitement of logical thinking. It is known that social skills favor social interactions and contribute to cognitive development. In this context, the objective of this research is to verify whether the reading of fables for children in institutional care influences the development of social skills. In addition, it is intended: To know the existence of contents about social skills in fables and how they are represented by the characters and situations described; Evaluate the social abilities of children before and after reading fables; Describe the sociodemographic data of the participants. Children aged 9 to 11 years, in a host situation in the municipality of Santarém, will participate in this research. Instruments will be used in the field of research to read fables that generate reflections on certain social behaviors and playful materials that contextualize the narrative. For data collection, situations contained in the CD-ROM of The SMHSC-De-Prette will be exposed and, according to the event exposed, the child will perform a self-assessment, where he will choose between the options published in the inventory, the one that would be in line with his conduct. The information will be collected and then the fables will be introduced, emphasizing, through discussions, the moral and ethical concepts contained in them. Later, the SMHSC-Del-Prette inventory will again be applied, seeking to understand whether the presentation of fables will generate changes or increases in the perception of the social skills of the participants. The premise of this research is that children aged 9 to 11 years, can better understand and absorb skilled behaviors if they are presented to them in a playful way, and fables would be an adequate tool to transmit themselves in collective environments, in order to bring to the reality of everyday life, lessons that contribute to the development of social skills. The need for research on the social skills resulting from this transmission is to instigate the use of this tool in educational institutions in the region, thus contributing to a better development of children.
