The continuing education of teachers to work in rural schools gained prominence with greater intensity from the 1980s onwards, when social and union movements began to mobilize in favor of an education that would meet the real needs of those who live in these spaces. In the 1990s, these discussions intensified with the enactment of the Federal Constitution of 1988 and the Law of Directives and Bases for National Education - LDB 9394/96. From then on, a series of actions began to be developed, which contributed to legal achievements in terms of Rural Education and teacher training. In the Municipality of Santarém, the Municipal Department of Education SEMED, proposes to promote continuing education to all teachers who work in rural schools, considering the reality that involves these schools. However, when it comes to the Amazon, promoting an education that contemplates the region's heterogeneity and singularities is one of the great challenges of the educational process. In this context, the research aims to analyze the contribution of continuing education developed by the Municipal Department of Education of Santarém to the pedagogical work of teachers at the Várzea school in the period 2015-2020. This is a case study with a qualitative approach supported by documentary and field research, which has as its research site a pole school of the Aritapera Agroextractive Settlement Project (PAE), in a floodplain area - Municipality of Santarém - Pará. To achieve the proposed objective, studies were developed on rural education and teacher training, and analyzes of documents prepared and published by the Ministry of Education – MEC and the Municipal Education Plan were carried out. Subsequently, the proposal for training teachers in rural schools and the reports of training carried out by SEMED in the last five years will be analyzed, considering the start date of the Municipal Education Plan for the decade 2015-2025. Interviews with semi-structured questions were used as a research instrument with: 01 coordinator of Education from Campo/Rios, 01 director and 07 teachers who work in Elementary School from the first to the ninth year who have been part of the school's teaching staff since 2015. If this study can promote reflections on the continuing education of teachers who work in rural schools in the micro-region of Santarém, encourage new research on the subject and contribute to the development of public educational policies that consider the reality that involves schools in the floodplain and thus improve education in the region.
