SUMMARY:

This work aims to analyze the statements present in videos published on Youtube about playing in early childhood education. For this, we sought to identify what is being produced about the game in videos published on Youtube, reflecting on the concepts contained in the speeches of the presenters of the videos, in addition to verifying the notes on the role of teachers in the game and to which audience these productions are intended. The theoretical assumptions of the study are based on Vigotski (2003, 2008, 2010, 2018); Elkonin (2009); Leontiev (1978, 2010) who bring discussions about play as an activity that guides the development of preschool children. Through empirical research carried out on the Youtube platform, one hundred videos were cataloged that bring explanations about play in early childhood education. The material selected for analysis was 28 videos delimited according to the following criteria: 1) videos from the education area aimed at teachers; 2) videos that do not exceed 30 minutes in length. Through this analysis, videos with different conceptions about playing were found. Some consider play as an activity that contributes to the teaching of content, while others highlight the importance of free play for the full development of children. The videos also highlight the importance of the role of teachers in the development of play. Among the practices highlighted as important to be carried out by teachers in relation to children's playing are: observation, intervention, organization of spaces where they play, planning, participation of the teacher as a player, the presentation of new themes through visits to places that contribute to the enrichment of playing. It is hoped that this study can encourage further research on play, promoting reflections on its importance for early childhood education, going beyond the conceptions of its use for content purposes.
