SUMMARY:

Specialized literature points out that, in Brazil, studies on initial teacher education have been carried out in large numbers in recent decades, however, research on teaching practices and teachers’ representations have been prioritized over investigations on courses, formative structures and processes. That said, we justify this present research, which assumes as field of knowledge the initial teacher formation in Interdisciplinary Teacher Undergraduate Courses (ITUC’s) and which has as its empirical object the Licenciatura Integrada em Matemática e Física (LIMF) at the Universidade Federal do Oeste do Pará. Characterized as a qualitative instrumental case study, this investigation aims to understand, from semi-structured interviews with professors who have passed or are part of the Structuring Nucleus of Professors (SNP), and the analysis of the Pedagogical Project of the Course (PPC), into what extent the views held by professors and conveyed by the PPC are consistent with knowledge produced in the literature on interdisciplinarity and rational traditions concerning teacher education. Through categories constructed based on specialized literature, we seek to systematize the diversity of views regarding interdisciplinarity that permeate the course's guiding document and the perception of the interviewed professors, in addition to the rationalities that underlie this course. We observed that LIMF, as a course implemented in a newly created university in the interior of Amazon through the REUNI Program, was designed as an Integrated and Interdisciplinary Curriculum, in accordance with the assumptions recommended by this program. Furthermore, its Pedagogical Project, published in 2015, presents a focus on Practical Rationality, in accordance with Resolution CNE/CP 01/2002 and Report CNE/CP 28/2001, which establishes national curricular guidelines for teacher training. However, our analysis revealed that despite the attempt observed in the PPC to create a new curricular proposal, the teacher training perspective that the document proposes was not truly incorporated. It is concluded, through the analysis of the data collected, that the course is permeated by a miscellany of conceptions, which sometimes emerge in a contradictory and non-specific way, highlighting a lack of theoretical depth in the field of interdisciplinarity, and the predominance of a Rationalist-Technical model.
