SUMMARY:

This monograph, a requirement for qualification, entitled: Reading short stories of Amazonian expression: the female character in the literary scene, developed during the professional master's degree in letters (PROFLETRAS) is the result of bibliographical research, interventions and reflections on teaching reading literature in the classroom, since literature is everyone's right and necessary for the reader's meanings as a social individual. The research is aimed at students in the 4th stage of Youth and Adult Education (EJA) at a municipal elementary school in the municipality of Monte Alegre-Pará. The aim of this work is to contribute so that, through reading short stories of Amazonian expression, students can have a more critical and humanized reading from the perspective of providing their training as proficient and critical literary readers about their reality. The research presents a qualitative approach in the line of reading and literature with the exploratory stage that consists of the bibliographic review, organization and selection of the material. At this stage, the research and intervention project was constructed, as well as being essential for the construction of the sections of the qualification monograph. The second stage consists of fieldwork; through participatory research, with work conducted by intervention research that aims to understand and interpret the languages and themes presented in the stories of contemporary Pará short story writers Maria Lúcia Medeiros and Monique Malcher, with the aim of providing interest in written reading by women and who talk about female characters and, consequently, for their training process as a reflective literary reader about their reality, also contributing so that, through reading stories with an Amazonian expression, students can have a more reflective reading about the feminine reality portrayed in the literary genre of short stories by the aforementioned short story writers. The proposal for the intervention project's literary reading teaching actions is based on the reading strategies of Solé (1998) and the basic sequence of the scholar Cosson (2021). The third stage of the research project consists of the analysis and interpretation of the materials verified throughout the research process. The research work is based on the ideas of scholars who deal with reading and literature such as Andruetto (2017), Bértolo (2014), Britto (2012,2015), Candido (2011), Colomer (2007), Cosson (2021), Lajolo (2018), Machado (2021), Silva (1999,2011) among others.
