RESUMO:

The Chamber for the Treatment of Agrarian and Land Conflicts in the Public Prosecutor's Office of Pará (CTCAF) has become an integral part of the system of self-mediation of conflicts in the Lower Amazonas and Southwest of Pará, in the Brazilian Amazon. It has the proposal to outline work with emblematic cases that deal with agrarian, land, and socio-environmental conflicts in the west of Pará. From the theoretical framework of peacebuilding, this research aims to analyze the installation of CTCAF with a focus on power relations between the social actors who participated in this process. To do so is to observe the impacts of self-mediation practices in complex conflicts involving different levels of power and diverse actors, from traditional peoples and communities to large economic enterprises and state agencies. Conflicts in the Amazon, particularly in western Pará, have elements that go back to the sociopolitical formation of the region by different human groups, going through tensions related to the use of land and natural resources and a range of overlapping interests. When analyzing the power relations between the various actors present in this space, their clashes of interests and strategies to satisfy them, as well as analyzing the impacts of the Chamber and its relationship with the public entity it is linked to, it is possible to walk the paths outlined by by this public equipment and service and glimpse the possibilities of future experiences in the region in a post covid-19 pandemic scenario, especially in relation to the strategies for the formation of grassroost leaders for the use of dialogical tools for the treatment of conflicts, which has been presented as the main strategy of the Chamber up to the present moment.
