SUMMARY:

The municipality of Santarém, located in the western region of Pará, has a cultural legacy, with important archaeological finds. Tapajônica ceramics, which, in addition to the aesthetic factor of their shapes and decorations, represent an important record of the societies that occupied where the city of Santarém is located today. In addition to pre-colonial societies, there are also remnants of the beginning of the formation of the current city. From this point, the need arises to understand Heritage Education as an important instrument for formal and non-formal education, in addition to being understood as a “cultural literacy”. This project aims to analyze the actions of heritage education developed in everyday school life as well as the methodological interventions implemented by teachers in the classroom working at the Frei Ambrósio State School, selected because it is the oldest in the state public network, implemented in the city since the nineteenth century. Also located on a historic site that in the 16th century was the Fortress of Tapajós. Given the cultural value of the school and due to its historical trajectory, the school community develops pedagogical strategies that build a possible awareness of the appreciation of local history. The research methodology is characterized as qualitative with field and documentary approaches. The study method will be exploratory, descriptive, with the use of interviews, adding to the bibliographical and documentary research with other public bodies that can contribute to the theme.
