SUMMARY:

The present dissertation focuses on the experience of Rawi, an LGBTQIA+ artistfrom Santarém, self-identified as a Queer subject, the construction of his identity as asubject and artist in the city of Santarém, in the interior of the Brasilian Amazon, andhis performances in spaces aimed at the LBGTQIA+ public . The objective of theresearch is to analyze the sociocultural context in which the artist is inserted, theconstruction of his identity while negotiating with the society that surrounds him andthe impacts of his artistic production in the formation of new identities. The twohypotheses raised are: the transgressive identity / which is collectively constructedthrough subject-society negotiations, in order to produce policies for confronting andtransforming hegemonic male identities; and the possibilities opened from theperformances of these subjects have a positive impact on the construction of newidentities of those who follow the work of these artists. The perspective addressed inthis process is based on the writings of queer theory, sexuality and identity. The applied methodology consists of ethnographic practices, semi-structured interviews, photographic records produced by the author and from the artist's personal collection. The research is in the production phase and the data obtained so far point to the construction of identity as a result of exchanges and social agreements that the subject makes with the social environment, not being fixed and immutable, on the contrary, it is transformed over time and moments acquiring specific characteristics in a given space and moment that the artist transits, being molded according to the needs encountered.
