10 YEARS OF THE QUOTA LAW AT UFOPA: ANALYSIS OF THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF QUOTATION STUDENTS

Sanctioned in August 2012 and regulated by Decree No. 7,824/2012, Law No. 12,711/2012, popularly known as the Quota Law, guaranteed that 50% of the total places offered in federal universities and institutes were reserved for black, mixed-race, indigenous, and low-income students, coming entirely from public high school, in regular courses or youth and adult education. Understood as a public educational policy of inclusion, the Quota Law has been implemented at the Federal University of Western Pará since its regulation, and after ten years of its implementation, there is an urgent need to study its results, specifically related to the academic performance of students. students entering undergraduate courses through the aforementioned Law. This work aims to analyze the academic performance of students entering Ufopa through the Quota Law, comparing their academic performance with those entering through broad competition. This is an exploratory and descriptive research, which will be developed through bibliographical and documentary research, and with a quantitative approach on students' secondary data, covering: Academic Performance Index (ARI), Approvals, Rejections and Dropouts obtained by through students’ academic records; Participation in research and extension projects; Receiving student aid; length of stay at the university and curricular completion, provided by the Center for Information and Communication Technology at Ufopa to profile the academic trajectories of quota students, as well as evaluate different academic performance profiles of these students. A comparison will also be made between the groups of quota students with non-quota students at Ufopa to identify whether or not there are similarities or differences in the performance patterns of these two groups.
