SUMMARY:

The municipality of Juruti has recently stood out in the Lower Amazon region as a potential cultural destination for Festribal, as the Juruti Indigenous Tribes Folk Festival is commonly known, which has been established as such since 1995. This festival was recognized as a cultural heritage site in the state of Pará in 2008 and enabled Juruti to be included on the Tourism Map in 2016, as well as promoting itself as an event that values indigenous peoples and takes a political stance on the preservation of the Amazon. Currently, it is gaining discursive strength in the economic field, as a tool capable of generating jobs and income for the region through tourism. Using a discursive approach and a methodological proposal inspired by Michel Foucault, the aim of the research is to analyse the processes of emergence of Festribal in Juruti as a vector of development, based on the subjects involved in organizing and financing the festival. For this analysis, the study is divided into three dimensions that follow the direction of the metaphor of archaeology as a research procedure. The first dimension describes the structure of Festribal in Juruti in terms of its current presentation, organization and financing, in other words, the festival as it is today, what Foucault calls its surface. The second dimension points out the temporal markers or surfaces of emergence that were decisive in consolidating Festribal's prominence on the cultural scene, which corresponds to "archaeological excavations".The last dimension points to the knowledge about the Amazon called episteme, within Foucault's methodological design. The studies indicate that within the enunciative locus there is a hybridization between the subjects who have constructed a set of discourses based on statistical data, cultural tourism, the Amazonian imaginary and the state as a catalyst for culture, which together enable the Juruti Festribal to materialize as a vector for local development. All this shows a diverse, dialectical and decolonial contemporary Amazon.
