This study aims to investigate the free playing in nature and its implications on the subjective well-being and sense of belonging to the natural environment of children from a riverine community in the western region of Pará. The target audience of the survey are a group of 8 – 12 years old children, from a riverine community in the municipality of Santarém, Pará. Data collection will initially be carried out by means of photographs in which the infants will be instructed to photograph the spaces where they play. Next, interviews will be conducted to know the meanings, structure and forms of playing. Subjective Wellness Assessment (SWB) will be assessed through the Global Child Life Satisfaction Scale and the Multidimensional Life Satisfaction Scale for Children. The Scale of Connection with Nature will be adopted to verify the children’s sense of belonging to nature. The data analysis will be delimited according to the peculiarities of each instrument: for the photographic records, frequency tables; for the voice data, the Discourse of the Collective Subject technique; for scales analyses, Free PSPP Software. Finally, it is intended to portray the relevance of conceiving human development as a process of interrelation and interdependence between individual and nature, so that contact with the natural environment can be a factor promoting child well-being, as well as the development of positive attitudes toward the environment.
