RESUMO:

Conservation units have the important function of contributing to the protection of strategic areas and also enabling sustainable use by populations living there. The Tapajós-Arapiuns Extractive Reserve was the first to be created in the state of Pará and houses thousands of people, distributed in various communities. Recently, the federal government made available to the settlements the Fomento Mulher credit modality, in order to combat gender inequality and to stimulate women's organization and productive development. Therefore, it is proposed for this dissertation to analyze the contribution of Fomento Mulher credit to the beneficiaries' quality of life and empowerment, in a rural community of the Tapajós-Arapiuns Extractive Reserve, Pará, Brazil. It is hoped that the subjective perceptions of Fomento Mulher beneficiaries, the communities to be studied regarding satisfaction with meeting these needs, may indicate if there was and what contribution this credit has to their quality of life and their family.
