Epidemiological Profile of Serious Work Accidents in the Municipality of Santarém, Pará

Accidents at work represent one of the main challenges for public health in Brazil, as injuries and sequelae may occur that restrict workers' working capacity, as well as affecting company production and the economy due to high social security spending. Despite having a robust accident legislation, Brazil is one of the world record for occupational accidents. The notification of accidents allows to estimate the relationship of this injury to the health of the population in a given territory and, thus, to plan actions and strategies aimed at the prevention, promotion and protection of workers' health. The objective of this research is to characterize the epidemiological profile of serious work accidents reported in the city of Santarém (PA). This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study of quantitative approach conducted with secondary data from the records of serious occupational accidents notified in the National System of Notification of Diseases (SINAN NET) from 2011 to 2018. The following variables will be investigated: age , gender, education, occupation, situation in the labor market, place where the accident occurred, year of the accident, company National Classification of Economic Activities (CNAE), municipality of the accident, cause of the accident, type of accident, affected body parts, injury diagnosis, case evolution, and communication of occupational accident reporting (CAT). The data will be systematized in spreadsheets, will be applied descriptive statistics, absolute and relative frequencies and the results presented in graphs, tables and tables.
