ENVIRONMENTAL RISK ANALYSIS OF THREE PESTICIDES FOR SURFACE WATER IN THE AMAZON REGION
Environmental risk assessment; Pesticides; Water resources; Toxicity
This project aims the environmental risk assessment for pesticides used in agriculture in the Amazon region, as the region is a major focus of agricultural expansion in the country. In this way, the importance of new studies to evaluate the impact of pesticide use in the Amazon and its liabilities on environmental and public health is imminent and necessary. Among the different known studies that assess the ecotoxicological impact, there are those that evaluate the association of substances and their effects on the environment. Thus, these studies assess the likelihood that adverse ecological effects may occur as a result of exposure to one or more substances. Then, The aim of this study will be to determine the environmental risk of pesticides Cypermethrin NORTOX 250 EC® (cypermethrin), Dominum XT (picloram), Nortox® (2,4-D) (2,4-D) for surface water in the Amazon Region. The species Colossoma macropomum will be used for the determination of environmental risk. This is calculated by dividing the exposure (environmental matrix, volume, area, product concentration) by toxicity (LC50) giving the risk ratio for the toxicant. As a result of this study, we hope to contribute to a greater understanding of pesticide contamination in surface water, to establish toxicity for C. macropomum species of Nortox, Dominum XT and Nortox (2,4-D) products and to increase the collection of information for decision makers on pesticide use in the region.
