SUMMARY:

Dockers are self-employed port workers who work on the deck and in the hold of ships, carrying out the loading, unloading of goods, surveillance of vessels and organization of containers. The stevedore in their workplace is daily exposed to risks that are classified according to their nature, which can be physical, ergonomic, chemical, biological and accidental. The constant and daily exposure to occupational hazards related to the stevedore's profession can cause health problems in the short, medium and long term, which include musculoskeletal pain, fractures, skin changes, repetitive strain disorders, among others. Thus, the organization of accident prevention plans, worker education and monitoring/surveillance of occupational risks to dock workers is necessary. The objective of this work is to evaluate aspects related to the health of the stevedore worker in the port known as DER in the city of Santarém, West Pará. For this, it is proposed that data collection be carried out through a questionnaire, containing questions about exposure to risks to which stevedores in Porto DER are predominantly exposed, as well as the main health problems that they present or present related to the profession. The results obtained by this work will subsidize discussions about the implementation of targeted public policies and continuing education programs aimed at these professionals, aiming at quality of life and health promotion.
