CLASSIFICATION, USE AND MANAGEMENT OF SOILS: ETHNOPEDOLOGICAL VISION OF FARMERS IN RURÓPOLIS, PARÁ

This research aims to understand the use and management of soils according to the vision of family farmers in the municipality of Rurópolis Pará. To understand the conditions that determine the ways in which agricultural systems are constituted. This type of knowledge is very important for the paths that technical assistance must follow with farmers, respecting their worldview. To achieve this, the specific objectives aim to: identify soil categories and their characteristics from the perspective of farmers and from an agronomic perspective; characterize the types of land uses adopted by farmers; describe the conditions that influence farmers' decisions to design the productive arrangements present in their production units. The research will be developed with family farmers in the Municipality of Rurópolis-Pará. The research will be qualitative and quantitative, with semi-structured interviews. And the sampling will be of the snowball type, with the initial indication of potential farmers to participate in the research. , through dialogue with the municipality’s Union of Farmers and Family Farmers. Agronomic indicators will be carried out, soil samples will be collected, physical and chemical analyzes will be carried out. The data will be tabulated in Excel spreadsheets and analyzed using simple descriptive statistics. This research aims to demonstrate that ethnopedological studies can contribute to enabling communication between farmers, researchers, support technical assistance in decision making, adjustments of soil use and management strategies according to farmers’ knowledge.
