PROFILE OF THE ACADEMIC COURSE OF STUDENTS AT THE INSTITUTE OF BIODIVERSITY AND FORESTS OF THE
FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF WEST OF PARÁ

Ufopa was created in 2009, in the context of expansion and internalization of higher education organized andmaintained by the federal government. Based in Santarém, it became the first university located in the interior of the Amazon. Ufopa, since its creation, has been made up of institutes focused on specific areas ofknowledge. Among the academic units, the Institute of Biodiversity and Forests (Ibef) is focused on the areasof Agricultural Sciences and Biotechnology, offering the following courses: bachelor's degrees in Agronomy, Biotechnology, Interdisciplinary in Agricultural Sciences, Forestry Engineering and Zootechnics. During theyears 2011 to 2017, the period covered in this work, 1,293 students entered the courses offered at Ibef. However, the completion rate among new entrants during this period was 47.25%, while the coursecancellation rate was 39.59%. The percentages show that less than half of students complete their degreeand, at the same time, there is a high rate of disengagement from courses. Given this situation, this researchaims to analyze the academic journey experienced by students of the five courses linked to Ibef, entering from2011 to 2017. The study will have a descriptive character, with a qualitative and quantitative approach. Restricted access information regarding students and courses was obtained through the Integrated AcademicActivities Management System (Sigaa). The data obtained will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and theresults presented in graphs. With the results obtained, it is expected to identify the academic profile of thestudents and, in this way, identify them. support Ibef in the development of actions that make it possible toincrease the academic success rate of students.
