THE RESIGNIFICATION OF AMAZONIAN CITIES TO A POST-COVID-19 WORLD

This article discusses the necessity of Amazonian cities to become a greater good for the region through socioeconomic development, sustainability and population well-being. It starts with theoretical propositions about the origin and development of cities and contextualization of occupation in the region until contemporary urbanization. About the influence of political economy projects, whose premises and conceptions are discusses in the perspective of qualitative analysis of old issues and the rupture caused by COVID-19. The development difficulties in the region, the conflicts between the economic models experienced and the urbanization pattern that do not include social aspects, sustainability and well-being. Therefore, that there is a need to reframe Amazonian cities with the participation of several social actors, based in the knowledge, in the capacity of smart cities model, resilience and sustainability. In view of the need for regional development.
