ADAPTATION OF THE TASI INSTRUMENT (TODDLER AUTISM SYMPTOM INVENTORY) FOR DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT OF THE AUTIST SPECTRUM IN BRAZIL
Autistic Spectrum. Instruments. Diagnostic interview. Translation.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM V) as a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by deficits in social communication, the presence of restricted interests, and repetitive behaviors. Symptoms are often present in low ages in life and early diagnosis can lead to a better outcome, but many still occur later. There is a lack of standardized instruments to aid diagnosis in Brazil, especially for children under three years of age. Objective: to translate and adapt the American Toddler Autism Symptom Inventory (TASI®) instrument into Brazilian Portuguese. Methodology: the study, which has already been approved by the CEP, will be carried out in the west of Pará. It will be a methodological-exploratory research, which will consist of these stages: translation, back-translation, equivalence, sample administration (20 voluntary children with ASD and 20 children without complaints of neurodevelopment) and elaboration of the final version considering the researchers' observations during the application in practice with volunteers.
