Education in the Amazon; Education policy and quality; Full-time; More Education Program; New More Education Program.
The study, in development, deals with the theme of full-time education as a policy that induces comprehensive education and improvement of educational quality. It takes place within the scope of the Doctoral Course in Education by the Postgraduate Program in Education in the Amazon (PGEDA), pole of Santarém, of the Federal University of Western Pará (Ufopa). Its general objective is to analyze the full-time education programs implemented in state elementary schools in the Municipality of Santarém/Pará as mechanisms for improving the quality of education. Thus, it starts from the following problem: did the full-time education programs implemented in state elementary schools in Santarém/Pará (2009-2019) act as mechanisms for improving the quality of education? In what political-ideological perspective? This is an analytical descriptive study that develops a qualitative approach, using quantitative data, through bibliographic research techniques, quantitative data collection and document analysis. It is based on the historical-dialectical materialism framework, which enables a critical view of the analyzed reality, in addition to apprehending its contradictions. In this sense, the discussions and analyzes are developed in light of the contributions of Historical-Critical Pedagogy (PHC), the conception of education defended in this study. The bibliographical research takes place based on the survey, study and systematic review of the scientific literature on full-time and full-time education, and on full-time education programs aimed at elementary school. The documentary analysis takes place based on legal norms and other texts on full-time education programs, and from the analysis of educational quantitative data related to the implementation of the national policy of full-time education aimed at elementary education in the state network of Santarem/Pará. Partial analyzes revealed that the State's comprehensive education policy, such as the full-time education programs Mais Educação and Novo Mais Educação, implemented in state elementary schools in Santarém/Pará, should not be limited to the expansion in the period of stay at school. It is necessary that the intentionality of the pedagogical practices of the full-time school be transformed, breaking with the paradigm of teaching with an individualistic and reproductive vision, predominant in contemporary trends. Unlike this perspective, it is urgent and necessary to adopt a critical and transforming education, such as Historical-Critical Pedagogy, committed to the working class and to overcoming capitalist society, aiming to contribute to the formation of a conscious and critical man of the social reality in that lives.
