SUMMARY:

How is the practice of storytelling linked to education? What does it mean to tell stories at school? What is the real participation of the narrative in the child's global development process? What stories does the kindergarten school propose? How do stories migrate to the audiovisual and affect pedagogical awareness? What is the reason for so much enthusiasm and confidence around the formative effectiveness of Storytelling? What possibilities, limits and difficulties are there for this activity in educational contexts? The questions are based on a basic thesis: Storytelling is a cultural activity with an artistic function and socio-educational basis. In this way, the research aims to understand the educational function of Storytelling for school education, with emphasis on Early Childhood Education, and contribute to the expansion of pedagogical awareness of the needs, specificities and consequences of its implementation, which leads us to to the need to apprehend the state of social perception of Storytelling that takes place inside and outside the school. Therefore, we looked for productions in three contexts: editorial publications (40 works), academic productions (186 works) and audiovisual creations circulating on the internet (215 videos on Youtube). The collected material made it possible to observe a chain: narration [social practice] becomes a field of academic interest – some of these works gain repercussions in the publishing market – the virtual space starts to disseminate studies, books and storytelling practices – gains strength to audiovisual production with narration proposals including: readings, performances, dramatizations, paletoches, puppets, audio-reading, sung story and voice and memory narration – the school becomes the main recipient of these productions. All works present the activity of storytelling as an important, necessary, viable, fundamental, aggregating, effective practice, rich in playfulness, learning, positive experiences and committed mainly to: the formation of the reader, the education of emotions, the development of critical thinking, the pleasure of learning, imaginative freedom, self-knowledge, the individual path to success, brain stimulation and even medical cure. In view of this, we identified a growing subjectivist approach that has led Storytelling to the trivialization of its use inside and outside the school, bearing with the weakening of the critical mass in its uses and applications, converting it into a panacea and deviating it from its real aesthetic vocation, as an art of the word that is told by mouth, memory and presence; and that it doesn't need to have any purpose other than its greatest gesture, the telling itself; and which has in the wealth of narratives produced by human societies a significant contribution of content to school education and its role, which is to democratize knowledge. For now, the exhibition will focus on three discussions/essays: a) the analysis of editorial, audiovisual and academic productions; b) the pedagogical intercurrences of the narrative act between the narrator and the listener; c) the critical review of the proposed Dialogic Narration with Epistemic Projection-NDPE and its implications for education in the Amazon.
