SUMMARY:

This thesis deals with the initial training of teachers for early childhood education in Pedagogy courses in the municipality of Santarém, state of Pará. of Pedagogy Courses (PPCs) at a public university and a private higher education institution in Santarém-Pará. The study was developed from a bibliographical and empirical study, and considered the method of historical-dialectical materialism for analysis. Data were produced and collected from semi-structured interviews with three teachers of the Pedagogy course who work with the coordination of the Pedagogy course at a public university and a private higher education institution, as well as a documental analysis of the pedagogical projects. of the said course, in the light of the official documents of the Brazilian educational legislation. Based on the research carried out, until the present moment of the qualification, it was noticed a shortage of workload and offers of specific curricular components for the formation of the teacher of early childhood education, absence of theoretical references consistent with the syllabi of the disciplines and the specificities of the curricular organization of this school stage are contemplated in different ways in the institutions participating in this research. Thus, it was found that the curriculum proposed for early childhood education in Pedagogy courses in the city of Santarém-Pará could propose ways of organizing teaching and learning that subsidize the teaching work in a reasoned way, involving contents that aim at the construction of their knowledge and practices. In this sense, the Historical-Cultural Theory presents theoretical and methodological assumptions that contribute to the learning and development of children, as well as providing subsidies for teacher training.
