SUMMARY:

This project aims to analyze the relationship between courses at the Federal Institute of Amazonas-IFAM - Advanced Campus Manacapuru and the demands of social sustainability, taking into account the development policy and the educational policy that created them. The project takes as a methodological perspective the epistemology of Marxist historical-dialectical materialism with main analyzes of studies: the social, economic and educational relations of the subject in question, in the search to understand the contradictions and historical determinations that shaped the educational policy and its relation with social sustainability in the municipality of Manacapuru. In the face of this relationship between educational policy and development, the problem of the project in which to seek to respond arose, if the educational policy of the IFAM has been shown to be aligned with the social demands of Manacapuru? As a proposition, it is accepted that IFAM, in its pedagogical political projects in the areas of aquaculture, management, information technology and other courses aimed at the economic segments of the municipality of Manacapuru, has been committed to training professionals through a pedagogical approach that values interdisciplinarity and practice. The theoretical approach of the project values the construction of economic development in its most modern aspect, that of social sustainability, in order to subsidize the actions of the Federal Institute, however it was necessary to historically rescue the economic development policies adopted from the 1940s onwards, the year that consolidates capitalist development in the country, in order to explain how these development policies influenced educational policies. The research is justified by its academic relevance, filling the gap in the field of studies on educational policy and its relationship with social sustainability in Amazonian contexts, it is expected to contribute to the improvement of educational policies and social sustainability in the municipality of Manacapuru.
