The Postgraduate Program in Natural Resources of the Amazon - PPGRNA is an academic master's program approved by CAPES with concept 3, and is part of the sub-area of Environmental Sciences that is included in the Large Multidisciplinary area of CAPES evaluation. It was originally a program created by the Federal University of Pará - UFPA (Campus Santarém) and, soon, incorporated into UFOPA after its creation. Currently, the program is linked to the Institute of Engineering and Geosciences – IEG of the Federal University of Western Pará – UFOPA. Objective: The PGRNA has as its central objective the study of Amazonian ecosystems, understanding their biological, chemical and physical functioning through interdisciplinary research, integrating studies in Environmental Sciences and generating local human resources, new concepts and scientific information that promote effective actions and policies, in order to guarantee the preservation and recovery of biodiversity and the planned and sustainable use of natural resources in the Amazon. It also aims to rationalize the use or create new structures so that, based on projects presented by researchers committed to this ideology, multiplying actions are instituted for the training of human resources and the execution of coordinated work. Basic area: Multidisciplinary/Environmental Sciences. Area of concentration: Studies and Management of Amazonian Ecosystems. Lines of research: *Processes of Biosphere and Atmosphere Interaction; *Bioprospection of Natural Resources in the Amazon; *Genetics and Biodiversity Conservation. Selection: Annual, starting in the first semester and offering 21 places per class.
